I was thinking about redoing my kitchen and found out that they are still making retro style appliances and furniture. Do you think this is going to be outdated soon or should I go for it?
There are certainly more retro options available these days, but I think the fact that these looks went out of style once means it could probably happen again. Still, if you plan on staying in your home or condo for a long period of time, you mind as well create a kitchen that you enjoy. But if you think you'll be selling your house or condo sometime soon, having a "niche" kitchen filled with retro appliances might make your home a tough sell.
I agree with Mark on the resale, but how cool is that kitchen! I wonder though at what point does something become a style rather than a fad? If that happens isn't it less likely to "go out of style" again? For instance, Prairie and Art Deco are now styles where once they were new fads. I think this allows for a possibility for Retro (even though it describes multiple eras) to now be a legitimate style. Would I do it? Hmmm... tough decision. If I really loved it I think I would.

I love the look of a retro kitchen...the appliances are awesome, but its a theme...you may get tired of it over time...this kind of design is a mojor commitment, just be sure its not just a passing thought before you really go through with it.

I love the look or retro kitchens too. In fact, I want to find a particular stove. Anyone seen a stove like the light blue one in the photograph at the bottom of this webpage? Retro Stove
