Hello all - as this is my first post on this forum as a NEW homeowner with a brand new condo .. I am looking for some color help.

With limited choices at the design center - and really wanting to have dark chocolate cabinetry and a light granite countertop - the designer at the condo decor center recommended a chocolate backsplash.

With limited options on backsplashes (see link)

I'm not sure if anything will fit my cabinet / counter combo. I'm worried that the backsplash selected may be too dark. I will also add that i have under counter lighting (in the event that will make a difference).

Here is my selection full unit selection:

I'd really love your input in order to avoid more work for myself in the future. Do you see any other backsplash tile here that could go with the countertop and the dark cabinetry?

Thank you all!!

Personally, I like the palette you have chosen. That granite countertop looks like it will balance your color choices well. Is that number 152 backsplash color the one you chose? I'd love to see what it looks like when you finish it!

I looked at your samples and I just want to point out that your cabinetry is a warm dark colour whereas your granite is a neutral cool colour. I would suggest that you look for a backsplash tile that has both the neutral and warm finishes to pull the kitchen together. If you want to make the granite warmer use a matt finish textured tile for the backsplash if not a clean high gloss tile will lean more to the modern look. The backsplash should not stand out on its own it should bring the cabinetry and countertop together and enhance the countertop material. If your kitchen is small it will be better to keep the backsplash tile on the light side and remember with a high gloss finish your under cabinet light will reflect more light. I would love to see the final selection and kitchen Good Luck

Hi Laura - thank you!

The tile i chose (and as you can see I really didn't have that many options that could work) is a matte finish chocolate - it's a few shades lighter than the cabinetry. On top of that - I do have the under counter lighting which will add a glow to lighten things up. Unfortunatly - the down fall to new condos is that they don't give you much time to make up your mind - and once you leave you are pretty much tied to your choice.

The lighter tiles were too light and seemed to throw off the countertop.

Anyways - since the original post went up - I've gone to many decor/reno outfits and I have priced out unique looking backsplash. Since it's such a small part of the kitchen - I can change that up at a later date if i feel the chocolate backsplash I chose is too dark (and backsplash titles are very reasonably priced now!) Smiler.

Thank you for your time taken to read any reply!
