I am building a house and can not decide on how to choose the floor, cabinet, and countertop color that will go together. I do know that I want hardwood floors that are a not to dark or light. Please help.
If you have a wood floor in the kitchen then it is enough of the wood texture, try to avoid adding yet another wood finish. Bring some color or monochromatic finishes. Also if you decide to go with wood then choose metallic or Grey toe kick to separate floor from cabinets. Using solid color for cabinets gives you a wider choice in counter top solutions.

It sounds like the wood floor that you choose will run through other parts of the home. Choose your floor according to those other rooms furnishings which you may already own. As far as the kitchen, there are many finishes to choose from. If you're concerned with mixing or trying to match woods - painted finishes are very popular. If you don't want a solid paint, choose a paint with a glaze. Don't worry about the floor color matching the countertop as much as choosing the right counter for the cabinetry. What you do on your walls such as a tile backsplash should compliment the counter more so.

I always say its better to contrast than try to match and miss. For the most part I dont like woodfloors in the kitchen unless you are doing really dark cabinets or white cabinets. Otherwise stick to tile.

Hi, A tile mural as your focal point can also determine the rest of the kitchen. If you love Tuscan maybe - the tile mural could be a Tuscan landscape transferred onto tumbled marble tiles. The listel or framing tiles could be a botticino tumbled marble in a rope effect with surrounding tiles turned diagonal to coordinate. maybe adding small 2x2" in an embossed design , not in color but just so there is plenty of rich texture.
