I'm new to the list. in the process of kitchen renovation. I have looked at Millspride cabinets at home depot, but afraid of the quality and how they will hold up over the years. Anyone have any experiences you would like to share? any suggestions for other ready to assemble cabinets? or even other inexpensive cabinets? thanks dennis

I'm with you, Dennis. I looked at the Mill's Pride Web site, and it looks questionable. I'm thinking about Ikea instead. I have heard some good things but also heard that you have to be careful what countertop you use--a thick granite slab might weigh too much and bow them.

I was not happy with the drawers on ready to assemble cabinets. The drawer fronts are large, but the drawer box does not extend as high, wide or deep as the cabinet and drawer face. Why is there so much wasted space between the back of the drawer box and the back of the cabinet?

IKEA cabinets would be a good choice. I disagree about the granite countertops bowing the cabinets. There are plenty of satisfied IKEA customers with granite countertops. There are so many possibilities. IKEA was rates #4 above Kraftmaid cabinetry by Consumer Reports.
There is a great site that will offer any and all help you would need - from questions to installation. That site is Ikeafansdotcom. Best of luck in your decision.
All our cabinets are ready-to-assemble, and they all are free-standing (kitchen islands and carts), with locking casters, so you can move them when you want to. Good quality and much less expensive than built-ins. Please take a look:

I do not know what brand of ready to assemble cabinets you chose, but I checked the drawers on our ready to assemble cabinets and they are basically the same size as our domestic lines. We carry five domestic lines. The type of drawer guide will determine the size of the drawer box. I checked the deminsions of the drawers on a 36 " 3 drawer base on our standard overlay cabinet and the drawer boxes measured as follows: 1.) w-32 1/4 x h-4 1/8 x d-19 3/4 2.) w-32 1/4 x h-7 5/8 x d-19 3/4 3.) w-32 1/4 x h-7 5/8 x d-19 3/4 These measurements are very close to the measurements on my domestic lines. Our ready to assemble cabinets are constructed of solid wood faceframes with 1/2" plywood sides. They have no particle board. Really any cabinet, whether all wood or particle board sides if, built correctly and installed correctly will support any granite top placed on it. The key is proper installation of the cabinets. They must be perfectly level, or the granite top may crack. You can vew the specs of our ready to assemble cabinets on our website at cabinetheadquarters.net. You are welcome to check our website and call if you have questions.
