Is it cheaper to reface? Anyone ever have a quote done. Am I looking at spending under $2500, or around $5000, or more?

Sometimes it's cheaper. Depends on whether you're doing it yourself & how many cabinets need to be done, among other things. It is very difficult to get new door and drawer fronts that match existing boxes. Usually you have to do refinishing as well as refacing.
Painting might be cheaper and easier than staining. |

I was hoping to talk with someone about trying to match my current cabinets - is this a rare happening that I could find something? I hate to spend too much time looking ... I wasn't sure if the first salesman I spoke to was just trying to sell me more.

No, it's not so rare. It helps to find someone who does refacing regularly and is not invested in selling you new cabinetry. You can look for a refacing specialist near you on our Professional Locator. Some national franchises that do refacing include: Kitchen Tune-Up/, Kitchen Solvers, and DreamMaker.
