You show a lot of wood based drawers and drawers with ugly steel slides attached to their sides - I thought the purpose of spending the money on nice drawers was to show them off without adorning them with these slides. What about the concealed runners in the market that are both full and single extension. The last I recall from my looking at cabinets at different showrooms, there was plenty of concealed runnners with that soft-close blum motion. Yet I did not see it in your articles. What of the drawers made of steel/stainless steel? If you're showing the trends and new products, should there not be mention of these items? |

Thanks for the suggestions, CBW. You'll see some information on these topics in the current roundup of products from the 2007 Builders Show and our Tech It Out slideshow and we'll add more in the future. Feel free to share more ideas here.

I have looked through here too, and wonder about the same things.
It's not always about the colour of the door or the style of the handle/knob/pull which is so easy to talk about. A knob/pull/handle can last longer than the actual house it is in. What about the function of the drawers? Are they built in China for the lowest price possible so the cabinet guy/company can make an extra 5% and my drawer breaks down after two years? The doors? Do they slam or do they go soft when closed? Are they going to last the lifetime of the kitchen or will I need to replace them too? What if I do not want open doors in my kitchen when I cook? If they went vertically, i could keep them open and have access to them without cracking by skull off the open horizontal doors! Now that seems to be a trend! And what about these companies that claim quality and use off-shore knock-offs and claim their just as good? The last time I checked, a kitchen is supposed to last 15-20 years. I have seen some people's houses that have great looking, designer kitchens but broken down hinges and drawers after only a few years. Sorry to vent, but these things are never talked about. ![]() |

Allow me to direct you to a few resources on our site that address this topic:
Construction Quality Quality Cabinetry Features Cabinet Prices Horizontal drawers offer more storage space than vertical cabinets with drawers, which is why they are so popular. We welcome your insight and experiences on these boards! Keep it coming.
