We have 2 kitchens in our new home and would like to enlarge the 1st to encompass the breakfast nook using the cabinets from the 2nd. Is this possible by getting new countertops and matching doors for all and then painting or staining to match? Or would it be cheaper to just by all new matching cabinets?

The painting would be more likely to work than the staining. Are the cabinets at least made from the same kind of wood and approximately the same age and condition?
