We recently purchased a new refrigerator and dishwash, both white front. In hindsight, that was a mistake, should have went stainless, but too late for that. Now we want to put in a new floor and granite counter tops. Our cabinets are a light maple. The attached room has mostly golds, reds and black. I was thinking a black granite countertops but hubby thinks this won't look good with the white appliances. Am I stuck with getting gold granite? The black not working with the white appliances?

Hi Karen,

Go with a Giallo Ornamental(earth tone) or even an uba tuba(dark). The Uba Tuba has some tan fleck in it that goes well with the maple. In short, if it ties in with the cabinetry your white appliances will be fine.

Ron,
Thanks for responding! Hubby says that I misquoted. We have light oak not maple-oops. Will uba tuba still work? That's what I really wanted. I'm thinking that Giallo Ornamental will be too much gold...if we go uba tuba, what color ceramic tile for the wall and floor do you suggest? I appreciate your response!

Karen,
Uba Tuba will work, sure. Go with a Crema Marfil tumbled marble on the backsplash. That is a natural color. 4x4's look nice. Email Ron@prioredesign.com and I will send you an Uba Tuba on Maple kitchen with Crema Marfil backsplash. Looks great! Never put ceramic on granite counters. Smiler Stone counters deserve stone backsplash.

Have you made a decision about your granite? I like milk white appliances, stainless may be popular but feels cold and sterile imo.

I just re-did my Kitchen. I used uba tuba granite, white appliances, white porcelain undermount sink, and I have light oak cabinets. I looks AWESOME. Everyone compliments my kitchen. Good Luck with yours. Go with your gut. It won't lie to you....

Hi - I have a few questions & I hope someone can help. The "Boss" wants to remodel our kitchen, even though it is only 5 years old, but that is another story. She wants to put in granite countertops (I have no problem with that). Now, we have natural oak cabinets, kinda of light coffee or tannish walls we have white appliances, cooktop, double oven dishwasher & fridge. Here is where I get a little weary and out of my comfort zone, because I have no color matching talent!! She really likes this dark brown color called tropical brown.
1. Will that look tacky in contrast with the white appliances and light cabinets?
2. What color sink should I use? I have been told 2 different things. I have been told the white would take away from the countertops, so I should find a brown or tan, try to match to countertops. the other I heard is that since your appliances are white go with white? What is the best or right way, if it all?
3. The "Boss" also wants to go with a tile back splash all the way to cabinets instead of a matching 3 inch or so back splash. I think for ease of wiping things off in back of stove. I think she wants a sandstone, is this the rightr idea?

I am not sure of the color uba tuba.

Last part of this long plee for help is for Linda or anyone else who has pics.

Linda - Do you have pics of your kitchen?

help?!?! what color will go with white appliances, gunstock hardwood flooring and honeyish oak cabinets? the walls are tan and the trim in the kitchen is white.
heres the plan ( which has changed 3 times already )
new venetian gold with white undermount sinks.
x that ..
new plan ..
new venetian gold with stainless steel sinks but then i thought my appliances are white and my door pulls on my cabinets are white and gold. and my dishes that i have out setting on the countertops are white and gold so stainless would be out right? so i went back with white sinks and changed my mind to a more goldy type granite called giallo venaziano but then was told that would cost more.
x that
then i went with a look alike to giallo venaziano called vencinza which after looking at the sample chunk for two days and two nights straight ended up reminding me of a big honkin slice of souse meat ( which i hate btw) but i was still going to go with the white sinks.
x that
third trip to the granite supplier...husband is getting PEHHHH ISSSEDDDD by now.
new plan is EITHER fox yellow or giallo napoli or kashmir gold. i guess whatever of these three that i pick out on purchase day?! but still the white undermount sinks.

now after looking online AGAIN for the billionth time at google images. i am thinking maybe i should go black or ubagooba or some cray zee name, i forget... but im worried that it will be too dark in my kitchen. and if i go with the lighter coloring i am afraid that i will HATE it after its in and it will clash with the oak cabinets?. i have even went so far as to spray paint the existing countertop black so i can see what its going to look like.
the verdict? i hate it and black spray paint is MESSSS SEEEEEE.
help? somebody somewhere in the universe with online access has white appliances , hardwood floors, honey oak cabinets with white undermount sinks AND GRANITE COUNTER TOPS AND LOVES IT.
would that person please take the time out to step forward and show me your kitchen before i get on some type of narcotic.

if you are going to suggest that i get new cabinets WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO DO.... forgeddabouddit.. as much as i wished i could .. it aint happening.

thank you for any response. i have two days to make a final decision before the slab pickin comes to an end and i am forever joined with my granite countertops. duntduntdunnnnntttttt.

I too have white appliances and am doing over my kitchen on the cheap. I'm going with new very light cabinet doors. I am using Cambria quartz for counters. It's close to granite in price, more durable and may have colors to suit your needs. (Sutton or Lancaster?)Hope this helps! kathy

The slow death of 20+ year old appliances (double wall oven currently)has started and I am thinking of going with white but not sure. After looking at stainless and being told about upkeep that isn't the way I want to go either. Here are the issues: 20 yrs old custom kitchen with exteriors of dark brown formica that are in excellent shape with polished brass hardware. The double wall oven is next to the frig and neither appliances can be relocated.Custom made 2 bowl stainless sink with attached drainboard & 3 piece faucet that is combo chrome/polished brass. On peninsula I have a stainless jenn air cooktop in excellent condition. So how the heck can I pull all this together?I did look into cabinet resurfacing and was quoted $14,000 for door fronts followed by a second business and quote for $8,000+ .Have considered painting cabinets myself to give them a brighter look and replace goofed up valances cabinet maker screwed up on. Suggestions welcomed for everything from appliance color to hardware color, cabinet painting etc.. One thing I can't do is rip cabinets out as hubby would NOT agree to that.
