My husband and I are looking to redo our linoleum floor and laminate countertops. I love the look of granite. Can't decide if dark countertops (like verde peacock or ubatuba) would look good with white appliances and honey oak cabinets?? Also want porcelain tile for the floor, can't decide on a color for that either. Any suggestions or pictures would be a big help, most of the pics I've found have stainless appliances or black. Also our house has alot of wood trim, all in that honey oak color. HELP???
I don't think you should go with dark countertops. They would work if you had just white appliances or just honey oak cabinets, but all three colors will clash, in my opinion. For the flooring, I would go with something with earth tones that will go well with the white appliances and honey oak cabinets. I would personally keep everything light and earth tones rather than throw in something dark. Go to your local retailer and get some samples to take home. If you need help find a retailer in your home area you can probably find one here.

I'm having a tough time picking out countertops, too. My floors are hardwood and cabintes are oak, so I don't want everything to blend too much. As a real estate agent, my advice would be to go neutral. The contrasting dark granite does make a statement, but if you're planning to sell in the next 5-7 years, I'd keep it simple. The best way to introduce color is with accessories. My husband didn't want me to paint our kitchen walls, so I had to get creative with accents. Try going to a granite (if that's the way you want to go) dealer and look at all the choices. The 5-8 choices at a Home Depot type store are very limiting. Heck, you can even pick out the exact slab if you want! Good luck.

I have the same problem. I have chestnut cabinets, very country, white corian countertop with fleck if gold and taupe and honey color hard wood floors. Want to add backsplash. Do I go with a color, stone, or white with taupe accents. All appliances are white. Do not want the look of a restuarant. Any suggestions
